{"id":741,"date":"2021-08-22T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-22T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=741"},"modified":"2021-08-28T15:51:03","modified_gmt":"2021-08-28T15:51:03","slug":"sermon20210822","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20210822\/","title":{"rendered":"ACTion 2021: Why &#8220;Go South to the Desert Road&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span hidden=\"\">ACTion 2021: Why &#8220;Go South to the Desert Road&#8221;?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"sermonNotes2020\">\n<div class=\"sermonInfoTitle\">2021 Church Theme: One Heart, One Mission<br \/>\nScripture: Isaiah 56:1-8, Acts 8:26-35 (NIV)<br \/>\nSpeaker: Elder Alex Chan<\/div>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pwtU2kjjsoc\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2021_0822_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\"><\/audio><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>Isaiah 56:1-8<\/strong><\/u> (NIV)<br \/>\n<strong>Salvation for Others<\/strong><br \/>\n1This is what the Lord says:<br \/>\n\u201cMaintain justice<br \/>\nand do what is right,<br \/>\nfor my salvation is close at hand<br \/>\nand my righteousness will soon be revealed.<br \/>\n2Blessed is the one who does this\u2014<br \/>\nthe person who holds it fast,<br \/>\nwho keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it,<br \/>\nand keeps their hands from doing any evil.\u201d<br \/>\n3Let no foreigner who is bound to the Lord say,<br \/>\n\u201cThe Lord will surely exclude me from his people.\u201d<br \/>\nAnd let no eunuch complain,<br \/>\n\u201cI am only a dry tree.\u201d<br \/>\n4For this is what the Lord says:<br \/>\n\u201cTo the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,<br \/>\nwho choose what pleases me<br \/>\nand hold fast to my covenant\u2014<br \/>\n5to them I will give within my temple and its walls<br \/>\na memorial and a name<br \/>\nbetter than sons and daughters;<br \/>\nI will give them an everlasting name<br \/>\nthat will endure forever.<br \/>\n6And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord<br \/>\nto minister to him,<br \/>\nto love the name of the Lord,<br \/>\nand to be his servants,<br \/>\nall who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it<br \/>\nand who hold fast to my covenant\u2014<br \/>\n7these I will bring to my holy mountain<br \/>\nand give them joy in my house of prayer.<br \/>\nTheir burnt offerings and sacrifices<br \/>\nwill be accepted on my altar;<br \/>\nfor my house will be called<br \/>\na house of prayer for all nations.\u201d<br \/>\n8The Sovereign Lord declares\u2014<br \/>\nhe who gathers the exiles of Israel:<br \/>\n\u201cI will gather still others to them<br \/>\nbesides those already gathered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Acts 8:26-35<\/strong><\/u> (NIV)<br \/>\n<strong>Philip and the Ethiopian<\/strong><br \/>\n26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, \u201cGo south to the road\u2014the desert road\u2014that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.\u201d 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means \u201cqueen of the Ethiopians\u201d).
