This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29The Spirit told Philip, \u201cGo to that chariot and stay near it.\u201d<br \/>\n30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. \u201cDo you understand what you are reading?\u201d Philip asked.<br \/>\n31\u201cHow can I,\u201d he said, \u201cunless someone explains it to me?\u201d So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.<br \/>\n32This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:<br \/>\n\u201cHe was led like a sheep to the slaughter,<br \/>\nand as a lamb before its shearer is silent,<br \/>\nso he did not open his mouth.<br \/>\n33In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.<br \/>\nWho can speak of his descendants?<br \/>\nFor his life was taken from the earth.\u201d<br \/>\n34The eunuch asked Philip, \u201cTell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?\u201d 35Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.<br \/>\n36As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, \u201cLook, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?\u201d 38And he gave orders to stop the chariot.
