{"id":1663,"date":"2024-03-17T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-17T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1663"},"modified":"2024-03-11T15:12:33","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T15:12:33","slug":"sermon20240317","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20240317\/","title":{"rendered":"Following Jesus Through the Trials"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2024\">\n<p>2024 Church Theme: Ready, Set, Grow: Journeying Together to Build Up the Church<br \/>\nScripture: Matthew 4:1-11 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2024_0317_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Matthew 4:1-11 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><span class=\"text Matt-4-1\">Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness\u00a0to be tempted by the devil.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23212\" class=\"text Matt-4-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>And after fasting\u00a0forty days and forty nights, he\u00a0was hungry.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23213\" class=\"text Matt-4-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0the tempter came and said to him, \u201cIf you are\u00a0the Son of God, command\u00a0these stones to become loaves of bread.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23214\" class=\"text Matt-4-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>But he answered,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cIt is written,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-4\"><span class=\"woj\">\u201c\u2018Man shall not live by bread alone, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-4\"><span class=\"woj\">but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-1\"><span id=\"en-ESV-23215\" class=\"text Matt-4-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Then the devil took him to\u00a0the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23216\" class=\"text Matt-4-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>and said to him, \u201cIf you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-6\">\u201c\u2018He will command his angels concerning you,\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-1\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-6\">and<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-6\">\u201c\u2018On their hands they will bear you up, <\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"text Matt-4-6\">lest you strike your foot against a stone.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-1\"><span id=\"en-ESV-23217\" class=\"text Matt-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to him,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cAgain\u00a0it is written,\u00a0\u2018You shall not\u00a0put the Lord your God to the test.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23218\" class=\"text Matt-4-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23219\" class=\"text Matt-4-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>And he said to him, \u201cAll these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-23220\" class=\"text Matt-4-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said to him,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cBe gone,\u00a0Satan!
