{"id":1509,"date":"2023-09-03T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1509"},"modified":"2023-08-22T20:34:20","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T20:34:20","slug":"sermon20230903","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20230903\/","title":{"rendered":"The Image of the Gospel People, the Church (Pt 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2023\">\n<p>2023 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: 1 Corinthians 16 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2023_0903_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1 Corinthians 16 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Cor-14-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-16-1\">Now about the collection\u00a0for the Lord\u2019s people:\u00a0Do what I told the Galatian\u00a0churches to do.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28779\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>On the first day of every week,\u00a0each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28780\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve\u00a0and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28781\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-16-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you\u2014for I will be going through Macedonia.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28783\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey,\u00a0wherever I go.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28784\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28785\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>But I will stay on at Ephesus\u00a0until Pentecost,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28786\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>because a great door for effective work has opened to me,\u00a0and there are many who oppose me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28787\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>When Timothy\u00a0comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord,\u00a0just as I am.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28788\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>No one, then, should treat him with contempt.\u00a0Send him on his way\u00a0in peace\u00a0so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28789\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Now about our brother Apollos:\u00a0I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28790\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>Be on your guard; stand firm\u00a0in the faith; be courageous; be strong.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28791\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>Do everything in love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28792\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>You know that the household of Stephanas\u00a0were the first converts\u00a0in Achaia,\u00a0and they have devoted themselves to the service\u00a0of the Lord\u2019s people.\u00a0I urge you, brothers and sisters,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28793\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>to submit\u00a0to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28794\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28795\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>For they refreshed\u00a0my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-16-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla\u00a0greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28797\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28798\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28799\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28800\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28801\" class=\"text 1Cor-16-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>My love to all of you in Christ Jesus.
