Otherwise, you have believed in vain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28722\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins\u00a0according to the Scriptures,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28723\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>that he was buried,\u00a0that he was raised\u00a0on the third day\u00a0according to the Scriptures,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28724\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>and that he appeared to Cephas,\u00a0and then to the Twelve.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28725\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28726\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>Then he appeared to James,\u00a0then to all the apostles,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28727\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>and last of all he appeared to me also,\u00a0as to one abnormally born.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28728\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>For I am the least of the apostles\u00a0and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted\u00a0the church of God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28729\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>But by the grace\u00a0of God I am what I am, and his grace to me\u00a0was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them\u2014yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28730\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>Whether, then, it is I or they,\u00a0this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead,\u00a0how can some of you say that there is no resurrection\u00a0of the dead?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28732\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28733\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>And if Christ has not been raised,\u00a0our preaching is useless and so is your faith.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28734\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead.\u00a0But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28735\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28736\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28737\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>Then those also who have fallen asleep\u00a0in Christ are lost.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28738\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28739\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead,\u00a0the firstfruits\u00a0of those who have fallen asleep.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28740\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>For since death came through a man,\u00a0the resurrection of the dead\u00a0comes also through a man.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28741\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28742\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits;\u00a0then, when he comes,\u00a0those who belong to him.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28743\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom\u00a0to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28744\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup>For he must reign\u00a0until he has put all his enemies under his feet.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28745\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>The last enemy to be destroyed is death.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28746\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27\u00a0<\/sup>For he \u201chas put everything under his feet.\u201d\u00a0Now when it says that \u201ceverything\u201d has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28747\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup>When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him,\u00a0so that God may be all in all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28748\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup>Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28749\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30\u00a0<\/sup>And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28750\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup>I face death every day\u2014yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28751\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-32\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup>If I fought wild beasts\u00a0in Ephesus\u00a0with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised,<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-32\">\u201cLet us eat and drink,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-32\">for tomorrow we die.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28752\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-33\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33\u00a0<\/sup>Do not be misled: \u201cBad company corrupts good character.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28753\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God\u2014I say this to your shame.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-35\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup>But someone will ask,\u00a0\u201cHow are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28755\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-36\"><sup class=\"versenum\">36\u00a0<\/sup>How foolish!\u00a0What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28756\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-37\"><sup class=\"versenum\">37\u00a0<\/sup>When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28757\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-38\"><sup class=\"versenum\">38\u00a0<\/sup>But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28758\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-39\"><sup class=\"versenum\">39\u00a0<\/sup>Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28759\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-40\"><sup class=\"versenum\">40\u00a0<\/sup>There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28760\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-41\"><sup class=\"versenum\">41\u00a0<\/sup>The sun has one kind of splendor,\u00a0the moon another and the stars another;\u00a0and star differs from star in splendor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28761\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-42\"><sup class=\"versenum\">42\u00a0<\/sup>So will it be\u00a0with the resurrection of the dead.\u00a0The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28762\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-43\"><sup class=\"versenum\">43\u00a0<\/sup>it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory;\u00a0it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28763\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-44\"><sup class=\"versenum\">44\u00a0<\/sup>it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-44\">If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28764\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-45\"><sup class=\"versenum\">45\u00a0<\/sup>So it is written: \u201cThe first man Adam became a living being\u201d;\u00a0the last Adam,\u00a0a life-giving spirit.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28765\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-46\"><sup class=\"versenum\">46\u00a0<\/sup>The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28766\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-47\"><sup class=\"versenum\">47\u00a0<\/sup>The first man was of the dust of the earth;\u00a0the second man is of heaven.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28767\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-48\"><sup class=\"versenum\">48\u00a0<\/sup>As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28768\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-49\"><sup class=\"versenum\">49\u00a0<\/sup>And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we\u00a0bear the image of the heavenly man.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28769\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-50\"><sup class=\"versenum\">50\u00a0<\/sup>I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood\u00a0cannot inherit the kingdom of God,\u00a0nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28770\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-51\"><sup class=\"versenum\">51\u00a0<\/sup>Listen, I tell you a mystery:\u00a0We will not all sleep,\u00a0but we will all be changed\u2014<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28771\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-52\"><sup class=\"versenum\">52\u00a0<\/sup>in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound,\u00a0the dead\u00a0will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28772\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-53\"><sup class=\"versenum\">53\u00a0<\/sup>For the perishable\u00a0must clothe itself with the imperishable,\u00a0and the mortal with immortality.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28773\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-54\"><sup class=\"versenum\">54\u00a0<\/sup>When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: \u201cDeath has been swallowed up in victory.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28774\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-55\"><sup class=\"versenum\">55\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhere, O death, is your victory?<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-15-55\">Where, O death, is your sting?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28775\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-56\"><sup class=\"versenum\">56\u00a0<\/sup>The sting of death is sin,\u00a0and the power of sin is the law.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28776\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-57\"><sup class=\"versenum\">57\u00a0<\/sup>But thanks be to God!\u00a0He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28777\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-58\"><sup class=\"versenum\">58\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you.
