{"id":1466,"date":"2023-07-02T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2023-06-28T15:36:02","modified_gmt":"2023-06-28T15:36:02","slug":"sermon20230702","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20230702\/","title":{"rendered":"The Gospel People, the Church &#038; Preaching in Freedom (Pt 8)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2023\">\n<p>2023 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: 1 Corinthians 10 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2023_0702_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\"><\/audio><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1 Corinthians 10 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Cor-1-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-10-1\">For I do not want you to be ignorant&nbsp;of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud&nbsp;and that they all passed through the sea.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28570\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2&nbsp;<\/sup>They were all baptized into&nbsp;Moses in the cloud and in the sea.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28571\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3&nbsp;<\/sup>They all ate the same spiritual food<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28572\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4&nbsp;<\/sup>and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock&nbsp;that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28573\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5&nbsp;<\/sup>Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28574\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6&nbsp;<\/sup>Now these things occurred as examples&nbsp;to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28575\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7&nbsp;<\/sup>Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: \u201cThe people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28576\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8&nbsp;<\/sup>We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did\u2014and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28577\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9&nbsp;<\/sup>We should not test Christ,&nbsp;as some of them did\u2014and were killed by snakes.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28578\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10&nbsp;<\/sup>And do not grumble, as some of them did\u2014and were killed&nbsp;by the destroying angel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28579\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11&nbsp;<\/sup>These things happened to them as examples&nbsp;and were written down as warnings for us,&nbsp;on whom the culmination of the ages has come.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28580\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12&nbsp;<\/sup>So, if you think you are standing firm,&nbsp;be careful that you don\u2019t fall!<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28581\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13&nbsp;<\/sup>No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,&nbsp;he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-10-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14&nbsp;<\/sup>Therefore, my dear friends,&nbsp;flee from idolatry.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28583\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15&nbsp;<\/sup>I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28584\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16&nbsp;<\/sup>Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break&nbsp;a participation in the body of Christ?<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28585\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17&nbsp;<\/sup>Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body,&nbsp;for we all share the one loaf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28586\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18&nbsp;<\/sup>Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices&nbsp;participate in the altar?<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28587\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19&nbsp;<\/sup>Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28588\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20&nbsp;<\/sup>No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons,&nbsp;not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28589\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21&nbsp;<\/sup>You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord\u2019s table and the table of demons.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28590\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22&nbsp;<\/sup>Are we trying to arouse the Lord\u2019s jealousy?&nbsp;Are we stronger than he?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-10-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cI have the right to do anything,\u201d you say\u2014but not everything is beneficial.&nbsp;\u201cI have the right to do anything\u201d\u2014but not everything is constructive.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28592\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24&nbsp;<\/sup>No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28593\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25&nbsp;<\/sup>Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28594\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26&nbsp;<\/sup>for, \u201cThe earth is the Lord\u2019s, and everything in it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28595\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27&nbsp;<\/sup>If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you&nbsp;without raising questions of conscience.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28596\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28&nbsp;<\/sup>But if someone says to you, \u201cThis has been offered in sacrifice,\u201d then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28597\" class=\"text 1Cor-10-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29&nbsp;<\/sup>I am referring to the other person\u2019s conscience, not yours.
