{"id":1428,"date":"2023-05-21T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-21T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1428"},"modified":"2023-05-19T16:13:43","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T16:13:43","slug":"sermon20230521","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20230521\/","title":{"rendered":"The Gospel People, the Church &#038; Division (Pt 5)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2023\">\n<p>2023 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: 1 Corinthians 6 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2023_0521_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1 Corinthians 6 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Cor-1-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-6-1\">If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord\u2019s people?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28470\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Or do you not know that the Lord\u2019s people will judge the world?\u00a0And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28471\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28472\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28473\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>I say this to shame you.\u00a0Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28474\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>But instead, one brother\u00a0takes another to court\u2014and this in front of unbelievers!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28475\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28476\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28477\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28478\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers\u00a0will inherit the kingdom of God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28479\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And that is what some of you were.\u00a0But you were washed,\u00a0you were sanctified,\u00a0you were justified\u00a0in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-6-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cI have the right to do anything,\u201d you say\u2014but not everything is beneficial.\u00a0\u201cI have the right to do anything\u201d\u2014but I will not be mastered by anything.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28481\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>You say, \u201cFood for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.\u201d\u00a0The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord,\u00a0and the Lord for the body.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28482\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>By his power God raised the Lord from the dead,\u00a0and he will raise us also.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28483\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?\u00a0Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28484\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, \u201cThe two will become one flesh.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28485\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28486\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>Flee from sexual immorality.\u00a0All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28487\" class=\"text 1Cor-6-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>Do you not know that your bodies are temples\u00a0of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
