{"id":1424,"date":"2023-05-14T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-14T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1424"},"modified":"2023-05-19T16:13:01","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T16:13:01","slug":"sermon20230514","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20230514\/","title":{"rendered":"The Gospel People, the Church &#038; Division (Pt 4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2023\">\n<p>2023 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: 1 Corinthians 4 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2023_0514_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1 Corinthians 4 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Cor-1-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-4-1\">This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants\u00a0of Christ and as those entrusted\u00a0with the mysteries\u00a0God has revealed.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28436\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28437\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28438\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>My conscience\u00a0is clear, but that does not make me innocent.\u00a0It is the Lord who judges me.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28439\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore judge nothing\u00a0before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes.\u00a0He will bring to light\u00a0what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28440\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, \u201cDo not go beyond what is written.\u201d\u00a0Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28441\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive?\u00a0And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28442\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich!\u00a0You have begun to reign\u2014and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you!<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28443\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die\u00a0in the arena. We have been made a spectacle\u00a0to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28444\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>We are fools for Christ,\u00a0but you are so wise in Christ!\u00a0We are weak, but you are strong!\u00a0You are honored, we are dishonored!<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28445\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28446\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>We work hard with our own hands.\u00a0When we are cursed, we bless;\u00a0when we are persecuted,\u00a0we endure it;<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28447\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage\u00a0of the world\u2014right up to this moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-4-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>I am writing this not to shame you\u00a0but to warn you as my dear children.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28449\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father\u00a0through the gospel.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28450\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore I urge you to imitate me.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28451\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>For this reason I have sent to you\u00a0Timothy,\u00a0my son\u00a0whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28452\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>Some of you have become arrogant,\u00a0as if I were not coming to you.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28453\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>But I will come to you very soon,\u00a0if the Lord is willing,\u00a0and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but what power they have.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28454\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>For the kingdom of God is not a matter of\u00a0talk but of power.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28455\" class=\"text 1Cor-4-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>What do you prefer?
