{"id":1398,"date":"2023-04-16T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1398"},"modified":"2023-05-01T20:11:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-01T20:11:00","slug":"sermon20230416","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20230416\/","title":{"rendered":"The Gospel People, the Church &#038; Division (Pt 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2023\">\n<p>2023 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: 1 Corinthians 1:10-31 (ESV)<\/p>\n<p>Speaker: Pastor Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2023_0416_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\"><\/audio><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1 Corinthians 1:10-31 (ESV)<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Cor-1-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10&nbsp;<\/sup>I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,&nbsp;in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,&nbsp;but that you be perfectly united&nbsp;in mind and thought.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28375\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11&nbsp;<\/sup>My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe\u2019s household&nbsp;have informed me that there are quarrels among you.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28376\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12&nbsp;<\/sup>What I mean is this: One of you says, \u201cI follow Paul\u201d; another, \u201cI follow Apollos\u201d; another, \u201cI follow Cephas\u201d;&nbsp;still another, \u201cI follow Christ.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28377\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13&nbsp;<\/sup>Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28378\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14&nbsp;<\/sup>I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus&nbsp;and Gaius,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28379\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15&nbsp;<\/sup>so no one can say that you were baptized in my name.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28380\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16&nbsp;<\/sup>(Yes, I also baptized the household&nbsp;of Stephanas;&nbsp;beyond that, I don\u2019t remember if I baptized anyone else.)<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28381\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17&nbsp;<\/sup>For Christ did not send me to baptize,&nbsp;but to preach the gospel\u2014not with wisdom&nbsp;and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Cor-1-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18&nbsp;<\/sup>For the message of the cross is foolishness&nbsp;to those who are perishing,&nbsp;but to us who are being saved&nbsp;it is the power of God.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-28383\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19&nbsp;<\/sup>For it is written:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Cor-1-19\">\u201cI will destroy the wisdom of the wise;<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"text 1Cor-1-19\">the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-28384\" class=\"text 1Cor-1-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20&nbsp;<\/sup>Where is the wise person?&nbsp;Where is the teacher of the law?
