Whoever\u00a0follows me will not\u00a0walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p><span class=\"text John-8-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup>So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cIf you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26402\" class=\"text John-8-32\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup>and you will\u00a0know the truth, and the truth\u00a0will set you free.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26403\" class=\"text John-8-33\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33\u00a0<\/sup>They answered him,\u00a0\u201cWe are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, \u2018You will become free\u2019?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-ESV-26404\" class=\"text John-8-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave\u00a0to sin.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26405\" class=\"text John-8-35\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup>The slave does not remain in the house forever;\u00a0the son remains forever.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26406\" class=\"text John-8-36\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">36\u00a0<\/sup>So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26407\" class=\"text John-8-37\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">37\u00a0<\/sup>I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet\u00a0you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26408\" class=\"text John-8-38\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">38\u00a0<\/sup>I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard\u00a0from your father.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text John-8-39\"><sup class=\"versenum\">39\u00a0<\/sup>They answered him,\u00a0\u201cAbraham is our father.\u201d Jesus said to them,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cIf you were Abraham&#8217;s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26410\" class=\"text John-8-40\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">40\u00a0<\/sup>but now\u00a0you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth\u00a0that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26411\" class=\"text John-8-41\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">41\u00a0<\/sup>You are doing the works your father did.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0They said to him,\u00a0\u201cWe were not born of sexual immorality. We have\u00a0one Father\u2014even God.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26412\" class=\"text John-8-42\"><sup class=\"versenum\">42\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to them,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cIf God were your Father, you would love me, for\u00a0I came from God and\u00a0I am here.\u00a0I came not of my own accord, but\u00a0he sent me.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26413\" class=\"text John-8-43\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">43\u00a0<\/sup>Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot\u00a0bear to hear my word.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26414\" class=\"text John-8-44\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">44\u00a0<\/sup>You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father&#8217;s desires.\u00a0He was a murderer from the beginning, and\u00a0does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.\u00a0When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26415\" class=\"text John-8-45\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">45\u00a0<\/sup>But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-ESV-26416\" class=\"text John-8-46\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">46\u00a0<\/sup>Which one of you convicts me of sin?
