{"id":1209,"date":"2022-10-16T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-16T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1209"},"modified":"2022-10-07T14:06:52","modified_gmt":"2022-10-07T14:06:52","slug":"sermon20221016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20221016\/","title":{"rendered":"The Life Giving Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sermonNotes2022\">\n<p>2022 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: Romans 8:1-17 (NIV)<br \/>\nSpeaker: Mr. Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2022_1016_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>Romans 8:1-17 (NIV)<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<span id=\"en-NIV-28105\" class=\"text Rom-7-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text Rom-8-1\">Therefore, there is now no condemnation\u00a0for those who are in Christ Jesus,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28119\" class=\"text Rom-8-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you\u00a0free\u00a0from the law of sin\u00a0and death.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28120\" class=\"text Rom-8-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.\u00a0And so he condemned sin in the flesh,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28121\" class=\"text Rom-8-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>in order that the righteous requirement\u00a0of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28122\" class=\"text Rom-8-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires;\u00a0but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28123\" class=\"text Rom-8-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>The mind governed by the flesh is death,\u00a0but the mind governed by the Spirit is life\u00a0and peace.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28124\" class=\"text Rom-8-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God;\u00a0it does not submit to God\u2019s law, nor can it do so.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28125\" class=\"text Rom-8-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Those who are in the realm of the flesh\u00a0cannot please God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28126\" class=\"text Rom-8-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh\u00a0but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.\u00a0And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,\u00a0they do not belong to Christ.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28127\" class=\"text Rom-8-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life\u00a0because of righteousness.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28128\" class=\"text Rom-8-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of\u00a0his Spirit who lives in you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28129\" class=\"text Rom-8-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation\u2014but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28130\" class=\"text Rom-8-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>For if you live according to the flesh, you will die;\u00a0but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,\u00a0you will live.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28131\" class=\"text Rom-8-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>For those who are led by the Spirit of God\u00a0are the children of God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28132\" class=\"text Rom-8-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again;
