{"id":1190,"date":"2022-09-25T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-25T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1190"},"modified":"2022-09-20T21:58:26","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T21:58:26","slug":"sermon20220925","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20220925\/","title":{"rendered":"Am I a Compassionate Neighbour?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span hidden=\"\">Am I a Compassionate Neighbour?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"sermonNotes2022\">\n<p>2022 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: Luke 10:25-37<br \/>\nSpeaker: Mr. Steve Chu<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2022_0925_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\"><\/audio><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>Luke 10:25-37<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Luke-10-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25&nbsp;<\/sup>On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. \u201cTeacher,\u201d he asked, \u201cwhat must I do to inherit eternal life?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-25390\" class=\"text Luke-10-26\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cWhat is written in the Law?\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;he replied.&nbsp;<span class=\"woj\">\u201cHow do you read it?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-25391\" class=\"text Luke-10-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27&nbsp;<\/sup>He answered, \u201c\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind\u2019<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline;\" data-fn=\"#fen-NIV-25391c\" data-link=\"[<a href=&quot;#fen-NIV-25391c&quot; title=&quot;See footnote c&quot;>c<\/a>]&#8221;>[<a title=\"See footnote c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+10&amp;version=NIV#fen-NIV-25391c\">c<\/a>]<\/sup>;&nbsp;and, \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline;\" data-fn=\"#fen-NIV-25391d\" data-link=\"[<a href=&quot;#fen-NIV-25391d&quot; title=&quot;See footnote d&quot;>d<\/a>]&#8221;>[<a title=\"See footnote d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+10&amp;version=NIV#fen-NIV-25391d\">d<\/a>]<\/sup>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-25392\" class=\"text Luke-10-28\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cYou have answered correctly,\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;Jesus replied.&nbsp;<span class=\"woj\">\u201cDo this and you will live.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-25393\" class=\"text Luke-10-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29&nbsp;<\/sup>But he wanted to justify himself,&nbsp;so he asked Jesus, \u201cAnd who is my neighbor?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-25394\" class=\"text Luke-10-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30&nbsp;<\/sup>In reply Jesus said:&nbsp;<span class=\"woj\">\u201cA man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-25395\" class=\"text Luke-10-31\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31&nbsp;<\/sup>A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-25396\" class=\"text Luke-10-32\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32&nbsp;<\/sup>So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-25397\" class=\"text Luke-10-33\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33&nbsp;<\/sup>But a Samaritan,&nbsp;as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-NIV-25398\" class=\"text Luke-10-34\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34&nbsp;<\/sup>He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.
