Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace?\u00a0By no means!<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28085\" class=\"text Rom-6-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Don\u2019t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey\u2014whether you are slaves to sin,\u00a0which leads to death,\u00a0or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28086\" class=\"text Rom-6-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>But thanks be to God\u00a0that, though you used to be slaves to sin,\u00a0you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching\u00a0that has now claimed your allegiance.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28087\" class=\"text Rom-6-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>You have been set free from sin\u00a0and have become slaves to righteousness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-28088\" class=\"text Rom-6-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>I am using an example from everyday life\u00a0because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness\u00a0leading to holiness.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28089\" class=\"text Rom-6-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>When you were slaves to sin,\u00a0you were free from the control of righteousness.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-28090\" class=\"text Rom-6-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of?
