{"id":1057,"date":"2022-05-29T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-29T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1057"},"modified":"2022-05-26T14:50:19","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T14:50:19","slug":"sermon20220529","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20220529\/","title":{"rendered":"Apostolic Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span hidden=\"\">Apostolic Ministry<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"sermonNotes2022\">\n<p>2022 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: Acts 1:12-26<br \/>\nSpeaker: Dr. L Mak<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2022_0529_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>Acts 1:12-26<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Acts-1-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day\u2019s walk\u00a0from the city.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26937\" class=\"text Acts-1-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room\u00a0where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26938\" class=\"text Acts-1-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>They all joined together constantly in prayer,\u00a0along with the women\u00a0and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26939\" class=\"text Acts-1-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty)<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26940\" class=\"text Acts-1-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>and said, \u201cBrothers and sisters,\u00a0the Scripture had to be fulfilled\u00a0in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas,\u00a0who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26941\" class=\"text Acts-1-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>He was one of our number\u00a0and shared in our ministry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26942\" class=\"text Acts-1-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>(With the payment\u00a0he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field;\u00a0there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26943\" class=\"text Acts-1-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language\u00a0Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26944\" class=\"text Acts-1-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cFor,\u201d said Peter, \u201cit is written in the Book of Psalms:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Acts-1-20\">\u201c\u2018May his place be deserted;<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Acts-1-20\">let there be no one to dwell in it,\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"line\"><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">and,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text Acts-1-20\">\u201c\u2018May another take his place of leadership.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-26945\" class=\"text Acts-1-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us,<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26946\" class=\"text Acts-1-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>beginning from John\u2019s baptism\u00a0to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness\u00a0with us of his resurrection.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26947\" class=\"text Acts-1-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26948\" class=\"text Acts-1-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>Then they prayed,\u00a0\u201cLord, you know everyone\u2019s heart.\u00a0Show us\u00a0which of these two you have chosen<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26949\" class=\"text Acts-1-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup>to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26950\" class=\"text Acts-1-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apostolic Ministry 2022 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy Scripture: Acts 1:12-26 Speaker: Dr. L Mak Acts 1:12-26 12\u00a0Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day\u2019s walk\u00a0from the city.\u00a013\u00a0When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room\u00a0where they were staying.
