{"id":1018,"date":"2022-04-24T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-24T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/?p=1018"},"modified":"2022-07-13T17:13:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T17:13:06","slug":"sermon20220424","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/YM\/sermon20220424\/","title":{"rendered":"Friendship with the True Vine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span hidden=\"\">Friendship with the True Vine<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"sermonNotes2022\">\n<p>2022 Church Theme: Advancing God\u2019s Kingdom in the New Normalcy<br \/>\nScripture: John 15:1-17 (NIV)<br \/>\nSpeaker: Mr. Aaron Garcia<\/p>\n<div class=\"audio-container\"><audio controls=\"controls\"><source src=\"https:\/\/www.mgc.ca\/mp3\/English\/2022_0424_E.mp3\" type=\"audio\/mpeg\" \/><\/audio><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>John 15:1-17 (NIV)<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<span class=\"text Col-2-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1 <\/sup><\/span><span class=\"text John-15-1\"><span class=\"woj\">\u201cI am\u00a0the true vine,\u00a0and my Father is the gardener.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26702\" class=\"text John-15-2\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes\u00a0so that it will be even more fruitful.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26703\" class=\"text John-15-3\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26704\" class=\"text John-15-4\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>Remain in me, as I also remain in you.\u00a0No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26705\" class=\"text John-15-5\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;\u00a0apart from me you can do nothing.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26706\" class=\"text John-15-6\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26707\" class=\"text John-15-7\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>If you remain in me\u00a0and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26708\" class=\"text John-15-8\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>This is to my Father\u2019s glory,\u00a0that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-26709\" class=\"text John-15-9\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cAs the Father has loved me,\u00a0so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26710\" class=\"text John-15-10\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>If you keep my commands,\u00a0you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father\u2019s commands and remain in his love.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26711\" class=\"text John-15-11\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26712\" class=\"text John-15-12\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26713\" class=\"text John-15-13\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one\u2019s life for one\u2019s friends.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26714\" class=\"text John-15-14\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>You are my friends\u00a0if you do what I command.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-26715\" class=\"text John-15-15\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master\u2019s business.
